Have you ever thought about learning to play a Band instrument, like the Flute, Saxophone or Drums?  Did you know we have band classes right here at LdV where you can learn to read music and play Band instruments, and the instruments are here for you to use for FREE???  Well…we would LOVE to have you join us this year in our LdV Band classes! We have classes available for students who have never played an instrument before and for those who have played for a year or more.   Below is information about the different classes offered this year, and how you can join us!

8:00am – 8:50am – Head-Start Beginning Band.  This Beginning Band class is designed for students who have never played an instrument before!  We’ll learn to read music, play an instrument called the recorder, then transition to a “real” band instrument like the clarinet, trombone or French horn!  (See the list below for all of the Band instruments available!) This class is open to students who are in 4th – 8th grade, and we will meet every day in Room 1 from 8:00am – 8:50am.  Students who are in 7th and 8th grade will receive a report card grade for their participation in this class. Our first day of class will be Monday, September 13th 2021.

9:00am – 9:50am – 1st Period Beginning Band.  This Beginning Band class is also designed for students who have never played an instrument before.  We’ll learn how to read music, play an instrument called the recorder, then transition to a “real” band instrument like the trumpet, baritone horn, or bass clarinet.  This class is a 1st period elective class that’s only open to 7th and 8th grade students.  To join, please contact Mrs. Ballard for your schedule to be changed!  

7:15am – 8:00am – Advanced Band Club.  This Band Club is available for 5th – 8th grade students who have played a band instrument before for at least one year.  We will meet once per week, on Wednesdays, from 7:15am – 8:00am to practice together.  This is not a graded activity.  The first day our club will meet is Wednesday, September 22nd 2021.

What instruments are available to play in Band?*

Flute – Clarinet – Bass Clarinet – Alto, Tenor and Baritone Saxophone – French Horn – Cornet – Trumpet – Trombone – Baritone Horn – Drums – Orchestral Bells

*Please note – Guitar, Piano and orchestra instruments (like violin, viola and cello) are not available in Band.
